Play a game of rally on your palm.

25 July 1998

This is Rally 1000 release 3.1.

A lot of people have noticed that the computer plays more than one

card at a time. This is not a bug. A turn consists of playing any

number of safeties plus one non-safety. If you are confused, try this

next time you have a safety in your hand:

1. Play the safety while watching the discard pile, the Pilot's battle

pile, and Pilot's mileage. Notice that the piles do NOT change and

Pilot's mileage does NOT increase. This means Pilot has not taken a

turn. It is still your turn.

2. Draw a card to replace the safety. Once again, the piles or

mileage do not change. It is still your turn.

3. Play a non-safety. Now notice that after you play the card, either

the draw pile, Pilot's battle, or Pilot's mileage will change. Pilot

has now taken a turn and your turn is over.

Known bugs:

None.

New features in Version 3.1:

- Number of 200s played by the computer now shown.

- Fixed bug in scoring where delayed action would not be added if

there was also a safe trip. (Thanks to Steve Saydah and Julianne

Harrington!)

- New e-mail and web page for the author.

New features in Version 3.0:

- Three levels of difficulty. Brutal level is the same as the

difficulty in previous version. Medium level turns off the Pilot's

ability to remember played and discarded cards and weakens the overall

strategy a little. Easy level makes Pilot play cards randomly. I

find I can about split with the Pilot on Medium and trounce it on

Easy.

- Removed Play/Discard/Auto buttons. To force a discard or play,

tap on your battle pile or the discard pile before tapping a card.

- Animation of little cars going accross the screen and finish line

flag.

- New icon. Thanks to Christian Moskal for this.

- Changed the interface for selecting a new game and resetting the

game totals.

New features in Version 2.0:

- Player's hand is now sorted.

- Undo available. Takes you back to before your last draw. (Don't

cheat too much!)

- Number of 200 mile cards played is displayed.

- Discard/Play/Auto buttons are "pushbutton" style; you can tell which

one is active.

- Tips screen updated.

- Page Up/Down keys draw a card.

- Driving Ace and Gas bitmaps redone.

Bugs fixed Version 2.0:

- Game would not end on hands where the deck is exhausted and a player

had gone past 5000.

- The discard card was not saved between games.

Bugs fixed Version 1.0:

- Game discards safeties when Draw Pile exhausted and you play in Auto

mode.

- A Go card should be visible after playing a Right of Way and you are

able to go; it is not.

Bugs fixed Beta 0.2:

- Games are now saved automatically when you go to another Pilot

application.

- Added "New Game" menu choice.

- Number of games in Score menu corrected.

Have fun. Send comments, suggestions and bugs to the address below.
