DoubleCross for Palm® OS
v 1.0
Test Drive Overview
Welcome
Welcome to DoubleCross. DoubleCross is an entertaining game for your Palm OS organizer that is guaranteed to waste at least a portion of your otherwise productive day. Easy to learn (my 8-year old son picked it up in about five minutes), it is deceptively challenging to play.
We especially welcome your feedback— so if there are new features that you would like us to consider or just general comments please feel free to contact us at the address detailed at the end of this document.

Getting Started
The DoubleCross game board consists of 48 spaces arranged in a six by eight grid. At the start of the game each grid space contains a tile. The goal of the game is remove as many of the tiles as possible in the fewest moves. You remove tiles by jumping over them with other tiles.
There are three basic tile shapes, each worth one point: a circle, a dash, and a vertical line. Occasionally during game play, you may find it necessary to land on a tile with a differing tile shape (e.g., a circle landing on a dash). When this happens, the two basic shapes combine to create a double tile shape, worth two points. There are three types of double tiles.
Double tiles are a challenge, because the only way to completely remove a double tile is to jump over it with one of the two single tiles that make its shape, leaving the other single tile shape as a result. Since this takes two moves (and your goal is to use the fewest moves you can), avoid double tiles. The Complex game level starts with a few double tiles scattered about the game board, just for fun.
Triple tiles are created when all three basic tile shapes occupy a single board position. Clear triple tiles the same way as double tiles, but note that triples take three moves and are even more of an obstacle to reducing the number of moves. At the Insane game level, triple tiles are added to the initial game board in addition to some double tiles.
To start the game, tap on any tile in the grid. DoubleCross displays blinking black dots to show all the legal spaces where you can jump.
To move, tap on a blinking dot. Your tile will jump and land on the dot.
To cancel the move, tap somewhere else in the grid.
To change your mind after a move, tap Undo. You may continue to tap Undo until the board is in its original state at the start of the game.
To remove a tile, jump over it with another tile.
Help is available in the game from the Options menu, and in the registered version, from the Hints menu command. The best way to learn DoubleCross and its secrets is to play it – enjoy!
