What is MahJongg?

MahJongg is a modern, solitaire version of the same named ancient oriental game.

This implementation for the PalmPilot is using the grayscale features of the PalmPilot. Instead of 2 color black-and-white, MahJongg provides 4-gray-color graphics.

How to play MahJongg?

The object of the game is to remove all of the tiles from the board in matching pairs. 144 Tiles will be placed on a board with 10x7 fields in 5 layers. There are 36 different tiles, each appears 4 times.

There are 7 different layouts available.

Pyramid

Theater

Hole

Checkers

Castle

Pancake

Block

Tiles can only be removed if they are free. A tile is free if no tile lie on it and at least one side, the left or right, is free.

To remove two matching tiles, tab on both.

At the bottom of the board you find a status and button bar.

At the left you see the number of tiles on the board to remove, and the number of free pairs.

You have won, if all tiles are removed. You have lost, if there is no free pair available. At the right are five buttons with the functions:

Preferences, New Game, Restart Game, Undo, and Hint.

MahJongg is freeware for freeware authors or non-programmers.
