God damn, taking on the Star Wars themes is a hefty task for sure, no wonder there aren't many mixes and remakes of them. TIE-Fighter is still my favourite out of all the space sims, the new ones are ok, but I really liked the 'Secret Figure' in TIE and the music was the best! yeah it was Midi, but still, it had the iMuse system going so the music played accordingly with what was happening on screen, in and out of combat. I was originally going to try and remix either the training theme or the secret agent of the emperor theme, but after listening over and over to the Midis, I decided to take on the 'in-game' combat tunes. It was a little more complex than the others and had a wonderful sequence of themes. I chose 'Reinforcement Mix' since it was such a great feature in the game, just when you thought, dang, too many x-wings to take out by myself and not get caught in the cruisers' firing range, you could call in for reinforcements and wipe out the rebel scum before they realized what had happened.

As I mentioned above, this theme sequence was a little more complex than expected, and unfortunately I had to let some trumpets go in the final mix. I also replaced many of the orchestral instruments with the piano where I felt it was good, I love the piano ;). The drums are my own creation once again, was going for something Enigma style, which sounds good once I turned the BPM down to about 130. The drums here were probably the most modified things in here after the actual arrangment. Apart from that, the intro was something that I decided on right at the start of mixing, and at the end I think I pulled it off ok, it might sound a bit crowded towards the end but it's supposed to be like that. Had a fun time extracting the sounds from my TIE CD.
