1. Installation

---------------

As with all software installations, you should back up your Pilot first.

You are responsible for assuring that your pilot system has been properly

backed up before installation.

Ensure you have enough free memory before attempting to install the program.

Delete any previous versions of the program before installing this release.

Use the standard Pilot installer to install the prc to your Pilot.

2. Game play

------------

Chinese checkers is very similar to Halma. Players start in opposing

corners (Pilot is White, Player is Black). The object is to move your

pegs to the opponent's corner. A move can either be a 'step' to an

adjacent free space or a jump over one or several pegs of either color.

No pieces are every 'taken' or removed from the board.

To move a piece: select the piece you wish to move. Then either select

an adjoining free space or select a series of free spaces between pegs

representing a jump. When you are happy with your move select 'Play move'.

If you make a mistake you can use 'Clear move' or just select another peg.

You can also use 'Clear move' to tidy the board after an opponents move.

The 'Hint' menu option shows a possible best move. You can play this by

selecting 'Play move' or clear it and play a move of your own.

Tip: Pilot will try and block your moves - avoid building a line where

your opponent can make use of it!

Examples of moves:

(a) Step move by X

Simply select the space to move to and press 'Play move'.

OX...O... -> O.X..O...

(a) Jump move by X

Simply select all the free spaces along the jump and press 'Play move'.

OXO.X.O...

select the free spaces shown below with *

OXO*X*O*..

and press 'Play move'

O.O.X.OX..

Two player game: by selecting Menu->New, and setting both Black and White as 'Player'

it is possible to play a two player game. The outlined dot (top left) indicates which

side has its turn to play.

3. Registration

---------------

This program is shareware. It will require registration when launched for the

third time. The registration fee is $7.00 (US).

Your will be supplied with a registration key which you should

enter on the registration screen of the Pilot application. You do not

need to re-install the game on the PalmPilot. The trial version you have

already installed is the full registered version when supplied with a

correct registration key.

You should note your registration key, as it will be required should

you wish to take advantage of future releases of the application, or if

your Pilot batteries fail.

If you are the author of PalmPilot applications or Linux programs
