Update your retail version of Starscape to v1.0k. Included are a few fixes with save games, non-USB gamepads, and others.

Vastly improved support for Non-USB gamepads
Save game problems.
Fixed demo version opening multiple web browsers on exit when Opera is installed as default browser.
Fixed rare crash bug in front end system.
Fixed problem with disabling audio.
