Block Design

Block Design requires you to recreate a randomly generated design by selecting and placing tiles on a grid.

Requirements

------------

To play Block Design, you must have PocketC for your 3-Com PalmPilot.

Object

------

Recreate the target design in the "Build Here" portion of the screen. Do it quickly enough, and you'll earn the best score.

The Tiles

---------

Appearing at the bottom of the screen, there are 10 different tiles. A tile may be used multiple times for any design.

Selecting and Placing Tiles

---------------------------

Tap a tile to select it -- a black square will surround the tile to indicate it is selected. Tap in the grey square at the top of the screen in the place you believe the tile belongs. When you have tapped on the grey square, one of two things will happen: a) the tile belongs in that place and it will appear there; or b) the tile does not belong there and you will hear a buzz (if sound is on). You need not retap a tile at the bottom of the screen in order to place it on the grid multiple times (e.g., if there are 2 solid black tiles in the target design, simply tap on the black square at the bottom of the screen and then tap in the two correct locations on the upper grid).

Sound

-----

Tap the word "Sound: On" to toggle the sound off and on. Sorry, there is no way to turn off the sound on dialog boxes.

Shuffle

-------

To abort the current game and start a new one, click on the word "shuffle." Only registered users have this option.

Best Time

---------

The Fastest time completing a puzzle is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen. Click on this text to clear the score. A dialog box will appear for you to confirm your desire.

Installation

------------

Make sure you have PocketC installed on your PalmPilot. Once you have downloaded the file and unzipped (or unstuffed) it, use standard procedures to hotsynch the file. It will then appear in PocketC's list of applets.
